We provide guiding and outfitting services throughout California, whether you are a rookie, experienced, a muzzleloader, an archer or a rifle hunter, we will put a hunt together tailored to you. We specialize in big game hunting in Northern California. We specialize in premium tag draw hunts on both private and public lands. We also have openings on our leased and managed private ranches for rocky mountain elk, blacktail deer, wild boar and wild turkey hunting. Our hunts are all customized to fit your needs and to maximize your opportunities to be successful.
California has numerous hunts throughout the state for Pronghorn Antelope, Blacktail Deer, Mule Deer, Elk and Bighorn sheep. Each year from late summer through early winter you will find us scouting or guiding for our clients, whom have either drawn a tag, purchased an auction tag or a PLM tag in the great state of California.
Wild turkeys and wild hogs are increasing in popularity and offer some of the best hunting during the spring. We currently are offering limited bookings for both on private land. We absolutely love to hunt turkeys, we'll hunt turkeys anywhere whenever we have a chance. If you get drawn for a special hunt, give us a call, some can offer incredible spring gobbler action.
We are dedicated to your success. We have experienced guides, whom are all hunters ourselves. We book limited hunting trips annually to insure that we have the time to dedicate the resources necessary to give each of our clients the attention they require and deserve. While our goal is to focus on mature trophy class animals of all species, we never loose sight of the entire hunting experience.

We spend the time to understand our hunter’s expectations and their abilities and we are honest with what we provide long before you book your hunt. Our Pronghorn Antelope hunts are conducted on public and private land during the general seasons. What sets us apart from other outfitters is our dedication to scouting. It is our scouting, our optics, our equipment and our confidence in finding bucks that others won’t look for. Is it easy? No. Is it rewarding? Absolutely. We often find our greatest goats on public lands, we are not down playing “private land”, we do hunt private lands as well, but it is far from a prerequisite to harvesting trophy pronghorn bucks.
Columbian Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) are just one of the six subspecies of deer that can be found throughout California. At SC2Outdoors we primarily focus on the blacktail deer found in the A, B & C hunting zones of western and northwestern California, on either leased private ranches or on the special draw hunts. This is where you will have a greater chance of finding the trophy blacktails of California. California produces huge blacktails where conditions are right. We manage our leased ranches for an older age class blacktail, putting age on these bucks allows their true genetics to shine through. If a Trophy Columbian Blacktail is what you desire, California should be your top destination.
Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus) can be found throughout California, in fact the state has six subspecies of mule deer. At SC2 Outdoors we primarily focus on the mule deer of northeastern California high deserts, the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer. These are the largest of the California Mule Deer in both body and in antler mass. While California is not known to be high on a non-residents list of destinations for out of state mule deer hunting, it can and does produce noteworthy mule deer bucks annually.
Rocky Mountain Elk (C. canadensis nelsoni), Roosevelt Elk (C. canadensis roosevelti), Tule Elk (C. canadensis nannodes) can all be hunted in the Golden State. Obtaining an elk tag may prove to be the most difficult part of hunting elk in California, with the current draw system, the more popular bull hunts are likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime tag. You can still however get a chance to buy private land ranch tags from time to time.
The wild boar (Sus scrofa) commonly referred to as wild pigs or simply hogs. You will exclusively hunt private ranches when hog hunting with SC2 Outdoors. We hunt hogs in several counties on different private ranches in Northern California.
Like most things in California it’s a debate over the Feral Pig or Russian Boars, we have wild pigs, call them what you may. We’ve put monster tuskers on the ground with a great big white stripe in the middle of him and we’ve put long hairy solid blacks on the ground just as fat and finished as a fair hog. So I’m no expert, but I think either one could tear you up and both are equally crazy wild, and all of them are a pure adrenalin rush to hunt with a bow or a rifle.
Meleagris gallopavo intermedia – The Rio Grande Wild Turkey is the primary subspecies found throughout California. Over the years CDFW and NWTF have transplanted various subspecies across California, but it is the Rio Grande that has been the most successful and widely distributed subspecies in the Golden State. Wild turkeys have been slowly declining across California since 2019 however even with that huntable populations can be found in 54 of the 58 counties in California. The California Black Bear (ursus americanus) is at record high populations, with the departure of hound hunting our black bear population is rising and quickly. According to CDFW they estimated the population in 1982 was between 10,000-15,000 bears, they are now conservatively estimating the statewide population to be 25,000-30,000 black bears.
