Winter Hog Hunting
We started officially started our Winter Hog hunting season today. It was a great hunt with Mark on what proved to be ideal conditions in between rain storms. It was a perfect hunt in the oaks on Northern California for hogs.
When we finally found them rooting in the oaks Mark was able to put a down this 100 pounder with a 115-yard shot. Mark was looking for a good eating hog and I think he found it with young boar. This hog was greasy fat from the fall acorns he's been gobbling up the last month.
It's days like today that make you appreciate living in Northern California and the changing of seasons. It wasn't long ago when we were sweating our butts off in pursuit of bugling bulls, hot dry and dusty. Those conditions have been replaced by a wet muddy earth, it smelled so clean and fresh.
Mark was a pleasure to hunt with and we look forward to him returning.
