This is a rare opportunity to hunt Rocky Mountain Elk in California's Premier Rocky Mountain Elk Zone. This private ranch tag is transferable to either a resident or non-resident and has just recently became available. This is an archery only either-sex tag and will be the only archery hunt on this ranch in 2017, the last time we had the tag was in 2015.
While this tag is for either-sex make no bones about it, we will be pursuing trophy bulls on this ranch, it is a realistic hunt for an opportunity at 320" - 350" bulls, with the potential of producing a 370"+ bull. The Northeastern Unit is huge and it has great elk populations in selective areas, with 10 archery and 15 rifle state draw tags annually the bulls have the ability to get old and massive. If you don't have max points in California you may never draw this unit in a lifetime.
This is an private ranch hunt we have a resident herd of 125-150 elk that live on the ranch year round. The big bulls move in around the 25th of August annually in search of the cows, things then become crazy. The ranch is located between Redding and Burney, California and is approximately 5,200 acres. It is primarily Blue Oaks woodlands habitat and has about 400 acres of irrigated pasture.
The hunt dates are from August 30th thru September 10th, 2017. In everyway this is a traditional archery elk hunt in the oak foothills something very few people experience. This is not an easy archery hunt, we will be hunting free range wild elk in semi-open country. However, you will have 100% of our dedication to this hunt from the preseason scouting right to the end of the hunt. You can expect some days to exceed 100 degrees but when the magic happens all of it is worth it. There will be no other hunting taking place on this ranch during these hunt dates.
The hunt will be fully guided with meals and transportation and we are prepared to hunt the entire 12 days if necessary. We want to give our client every possibility to harvest a great bull.
