We have just recently acquired the hunting on two new northeastern Shasta County ranches. SC2 Outdoors is now operating on the River Ranch LLP and the River Butte Ranch Co. We are very pleased to have partnered with these two ranches and excited that we have the ability to offer to our clients a great opportunity to harvest mature mule deer here in California.
Our goal is to always manage the private ranches we partner to consistently offer our clients a quality hunting experience and the possibility to harvest a mature animal. We are expecting great things from our hunts on the River Ranch and the River Butte Ranch. We will be operating a single session archery hunt for a maximum of 4 hunters and a single session rifle hunt for a maximum of 2 hunters. These hunts will be all inclusive and include lodging.
These ranches are located in the X1 Zone in California which represents X1 Rifle and A3 Archery and because of such a hunter will require preference points for a guaranteed draw hunt. We can help you with the draw, in 2017 for the X1 Rifle Hunt there were 760 tags available with 684 tags to the highest preference points and 76 for the random draw. This means that if you had 2.5 points you were guaranteed a tag, those with 2 points had a 40% chance of draw and those less than 2 your draw odds were .026%. For the A3 Archery Specific tag there were 100 tags available with 90 to the highest preference points and 10 for the random draw. Those with 2 points or more were guaranteed a tag, those with 1.5 had a 37% chance of draw and those less than 1.5 your draw odds were .039%. We expect with point creep the odds to be very similar to the same for the 2018 California Big Game Draw.
We expect to harvest some great bucks in our first year and are running very conservative numbers to insure we have quality bucks in the future. While these hunts are not for everyone, we recommend you call for details to see if these hunts will be right for you. Honestly, if I have less than max points, I'm burning my points to do this hunt, so that is our recommendation. There are very few hunts in California worth waiting more than 2-3 years to draw and because of the California's Modified Preference Point System Drawing compounded by our population base there are those going for the top 3 hunts in the state that will never draw with maximum points. For 2018 the maximum points will be 16 points, if you have those great your swinging normally at 90% of the tags in any specific draw, the balance of us are going for 10%. We are always available to talk hunting, fishing or the great outdoors.
Best of Luck to all in 2018.
