Northern California Wild Pig on SC2 Managed Ranch
The wild boar (Sus scrofa) commonly referred to as wild pigs or simply hogs. You will exclusively hunt private ranches when wild pig hunting with SC2 Outdoors. Our pig hunts are conducted several different private ranches in Northern California in the counties of Napa, Shasta and Tehama. We target the months January, February, March, June and July for our wild pig hunting.

Like most things in California it’s a debate over the Feral Pig or Russian Boars, we have wild pigs in California, call them what you may. We’ve put monster tuskers on the ground with a great big white stripe in the middle of him and we’ve put long hairy solid blacks on the ground just as fat and finished as a fair hog. So I’m no expert, but I think either one could tear you up and both are equally crazy wild, and all of them are a pure adrenalin rush to hunt with a bow or a rifle.
Hog hunting in California is a year long affair; it makes for some great off-season activity. There’s really no bad time to book a Northern California hog hunt, if you’re on the right ranches and they are properly managed. We work closely with several northern California cattle ranches, we'll know where the hogs are at any given time of the year.
At SC2 Outdoors, all of our wild pig hunting is done by spot and stalk, we do not run dogs for hogs. We are not against this practice by any means, we just prefer to put the sneak on our organic pork. We find that we can be more selective in our harvest and it keeps our pigs from rotating to a more nocturnal pattern.

One note of consideration before you book a hunt with SC2 Outdoors, we believe in proper wild game management. Depending on your hunt of choice, we do allow all boars and dry sows to be harvested. We do not allow the harvest of pregnant or nursing sows. Unfortunately, there are times that hunting conditions simply do not allow us to take a shot, if we cannot properly identify the sex and condition of the hog. We know that this at times may mean the difference between a going home with or without a wild pig. We hope you understand, it is simply a policy we adhere to strictly. We work extremely hard to put our clients on pigs and have been able produce 100% shot opportunity for our clients to date on our wild pig hunts.
