Wild turkeys and wild hogs are increasing in popularity and offer some of the best hunting during the spring. We currently are offering limited bookings for both on private land. We absolutely love to hunt turkeys, we'll hunt turkeys anywhere whenever we have a chance. If you get drawn for a special hunt, give us a call, some can offer incredible spring gobbler action.
At SC2 Outdoors, your success is our priority. Our experienced guides, all avid hunters themselves, are committed to delivering exceptional experiences. Our Pronghorn Antelope hunts are conducted on both public and private lands during the general hunting seasons. What truly sets us apart is our relentless dedication to scouting. Our success stems from the effort we put into preseason scouting. Our goal is to find pronghorn bucks others overlook or are unwilling to invest the time looking, using top-tier optics, equipment, and an unwavering confidence built on extensive preparation.
Is it easy? No. Is it rewarding? Absolutely. Some of our best pronghorn bucks have been harvested on public lands. While private land hunting can provide unique opportunities, it is by no means a requirement for taking trophy-class pronghorn. Our focus is on delivering a premier hunting experience, whether on vast public ranges or select private properties.
Columbian Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) are one of six subspecies of deer found across California, and they are a primary focus at SC2 Outdoors. We specialize in blacktail deer hunts within the A, B, and C hunting zones of western and northwestern California, utilizing either leased private ranches or special draw hunts. These areas provide the best opportunities to encounter the trophy-class blacktails that California is known for.
California has the potential to produce massive blacktails when the conditions are just right. On our leased ranches, we actively manage for an older age class of bucks, allowing them to reach their full genetic potential. By prioritizing age and habitat management, we create the ideal environment for truly exceptional blacktail deer.
If you're seeking a Trophy Columbian Blacktail, there’s no better destination than California.
Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus) spread throughout California, with the state hosting five recognized subspecies. At SC2 Outdoors, our focus is on the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer of northeastern California’s high desert. These are the largest mule deer found in California, both in body size and antler mass.
While California may not always top the list of non-resident destinations for mule deer hunting, it has proven itself capable of producing noteworthy mule deer bucks. For those willing to venture into the rugged beauty of northeastern California, the potential for harvesting a trophy Rocky Mountain Mule Deer is still attainable, but it is not for the weak of heart.
California offers excellent elk hunting opportunities, with three distinct subspecies: Rocky Mountain Elk (Cervus canadensis nelsoni), Roosevelt Elk (Cervus canadensis roosevelti), and Tule Elk (Cervus canadensis nannodes). Each presents a unique and rewarding challenge for hunters in the Golden State.
However, the most challenging aspect of elk hunting in California is obtaining a tag. Due to the current draw system, tags for the more popular bull hunts are often considered once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Despite this, hunters occasionally have the chance to purchase private land ranch tags, offering a rare opportunity to experience California’s exceptional elk hunting.
For those lucky enough to secure a tag, California’s elk hunts can rival the best in the West, delivering unforgettable screaming bulls and the potential for truly trophy-class animals.
This Ain’t Texas: Wild Hog Hunting with SC2 Outdoors
The wild boar (Sus scrofa), often called wild pigs or simply hogs, is one of the most thrilling species to hunt—and when you hunt with SC2 Outdoors, you’ll do so exclusively on private ranches in Northern California. We hunt across several counties, offering access to prime hog-hunting properties.
In true California fashion, there’s endless debate and poltics surrounding "Feral Hogs". I'm a firm believer there is blood of each "Russian Boars" and "Feral Hogs" in everyone. Call them what you will—we have wild pigs. From solid-blacks, stripes, poka dots, blondes and reds, we’ve seen and harvested them all.
One thing’s for sure: these animals are tough, wild, and an adrenaline-charged challenge, whether you’re hunting with a bow or rifle. They can be unpredictable and capable of giving you a hunt you’ll never forget.
When it comes to hog hunting with SC2 Outdoors, “This ain’t Texas”—it’s pure Northern California Wild Pig Hunting!
Spring Wild Turkey Hunting in California: The King of the Spring
The Rio Grande Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo intermedia) is the primary subspecies found across California. While other subspecies have been introduced through efforts by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), it is the Rio Grande turkey that has thrived, becoming the most successful and widely distributed throughout the Golden State.
Although wild turkey populations in California have seen a gradual decline since 2019, huntable numbers remain strong, with turkeys present in 54 of the state’s 58 counties. If you’re pursuing your NWTF Grand Slam or Super Slam and need to add the 31st state’s gobbler to your list, we’re here to make it happen.
At SC2 Outdoors, spring wild turkey hunting isn’t just something we do—it’s our passion. We offer limited, high-quality hunts each year, dedicated to those seeking the challenge and thrill of hunting the grandest of all game birds. Every day spent in the field during California’s spring turkey season is nothing short of magical.
Come experience the excitement and beauty of chasing the King of the Spring in the Golden State!
California Black Bear Hunting: A Growing Opportunity
The California Black Bear (Ursus americanus) population is at record highs and continues to grow rapidly, largely due to the discontinuation of hound hunting. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), the bear population has more than doubled over the past few decades. In 1982, estimates placed the population between 10,000 and 15,000 bears. Today, CDFW conservatively estimates the statewide black bear population at 25,000 to 30,000. I personally wouldn't be surprised if the number is closer to 40,000 - 45,000.
With numbers on the rise, California offers incredible opportunities for black bear hunting in diverse and challenging terrains. Whether you’re seeking an exhilarating solo hunt or an adventure guided by experts, there’s never been a better time to experience the thrill of pursuing one of California’s most iconic big game species.
